The information about the EVANS family was copied from the family Bible in March 1921. The Bible is in the possession of John William EVANS Family. David C. and C. Catherine EVANS were married in Cardigan Co. Whales. Their two oldest sons were born in Wales. They were Baptists. They came from Wales to Brantfort, Ont.(1842-45) then went to Lobo Township where David and Sarah were born. Then they moved to Granville, Ohio(1846-51) where Mary, Racheal and Ellen were born. John George must have left in the mid 1850's and went to Missouri where he married Rachel Ann Turner in 1858. The Evan's had nine children, two died in infancy and Racheal at age 12. When Mary was about 16,(1867) part of the family returned to Ailsa Craig, Ont. and settled in Lobo twsp. in a Welch community, where Great-grandfather David EVANS wove carpets, blankets and cloth. Catherine EVANS' father had a gristmill in Cardiganshire Wales. Note three children names Mary, two having died. Both David, Catherine and their daughter Racheal are buried in the Baptist cemetery on the townline of Lobo. (Bowood Baptist Church cemetery)

Their oldest living child was John George EVANS b. 23 Mar 1838 in Whales d. 11 Oct 1909 b. Benzonia, Mich He served in the Civel War and was with Sherman on his march to the sea.
